LYNDHURST, NJ - Kentucky is 'Brick City' bound. The Wildcats punched their ticket to the Newark Regional with a hard fought 71-63 victory over West Virginia on Saturday. The numbers:
Off. | ||
Team | Poss. | Off. |
West Virginia | 63 | 100 |
Kentucky | 62 | 116 |
* Post game, Mountaineer coach Bob Huggins felt the difference was shooting from the floor. Kentucky did have a 54-48% advantage in the eFG percentage. But the big difference was the play of Brandon Knight. The Wildcat freshman, with the game winner against Princeton on Thursday, came up big with 30 points. Knight was 9 of 10 from the line and helped John Calipari's club ice the game down the stretch.
Knight scored two and had a -1 Manley rating against Princeton. Today he had the complete effort with the aforementioned 30 points and a 21 Manley efficiency rating. It very much needed.
