Ray Floriani dropped me a note this morning about the Rutgers-Marist game at the RAC last night. He wrote a few observations about the team and the game:
PISCATAWAY, NJ - Rutgers survived a scare against Marist on Friday evening. The Scarlet Knights held on for a 63-61 victory. On the positive side , Rutgers made the plays in the stretch to win. Both clubs were turnover prone with more TO than field goals the first half. By the numbers:
After intermission the miscues decreased as the final games stats showed Marist with a 17% TO rate and Rutgers at 19%.
The Final totals game were
The Scarlet Knights were effective on defense as they tied the school record with 16 blocks. Hamady Ndaye led with 8 while freshman Greg Echenique was impressive with 6 (and 15 boards). Another frosh Mike Rosario led all scorers with 17 points. A natural scorer, Rosario played very well in the scheme of the Rutgers offense.
