Vinny Pezzimenti Moment: Week 12

Villanova's slide continued last week with two more losses posted against their record. The first, a road loss at Pittsburgh is not especially surprising with how the team has played on the road this Big East season (a lacklustre 1-4), but the home loss to Syracuse was disappointing given they had beaten the Orange on the road early last month and jumped out to a 10 point lead to start the game. Starting slow and having to play from behind has been a marker for the recent problems, so Saturday seemed (at least at the 10:00 minute mark of the first half) to be the day when they would stop the bleeding. Not so apparently...

My Big East Blogger Poll for this week:

1 - Georgetown
2 - Notre Dame
3 - Louisville
4 - Connecticut
5 - Marquette
6 - Pittsburgh
7 - West Virginia
8 - Seton Hall
9 - Syracuse
10 - Cincinnati
11 - Villanova
12 - DePaul
13 - Providence
14 - Rutgers
15 - St. John's
16 - South Florida

Player of the Week: AJ Price, Connecticut

Rookie of the Week: Dominique Jones, South Florida

Who's Up...Who's Down...
Georgetown extends their streak atop the Big East. Connecticut and Louisville move up on the strength of their wins, while Providence and South Florida (and Villanova...) are heading down (they keep losing).

This week's OWs...
AJ Price of Connecticut is my POW. AJ turned in two very good games against Louisville (20 points on 8-17 shooting, good for an eFG of 52.9 for the game) and then against Pittsburgh last weekend (21 points on 6-12 shooting, eFG of 54.2) Even though the South Florida Bulls lost twice last week Dominique Jones continues to tear up the court. Dominique turned in a 15 point performance in the Bull's loss to Marquette, and then 24 in their loss to St. John's last weekend.
