A Few Big East Previews

I have been waiting for Vegas Watch's  Big East preview since I saw their write-up on the ACC back in August. Factoring last season's Pythagorean Winning Percentage (via Ken Pomeroy's web site), returning minutes and additions to the roster (mostly freshmen), the blogger and a few friends tease the winning percentage to determine the order of finish for the conference. Limiting their analysis to each of the BCS conferences (and twelve or so non-BCS teams), the blogger has produced a very interesting series of previews (John Gasaway and company over at the Basketball Prospectus have not yet released their BCS Preview -- oops, spoke too soon) that I will use as a reference point throughout the season. They call the conference title for the Mountaineers, but note the Pythagorean WP margin (WVU's .951 vs Villanova's .948) suggest this should be a very closely contested season.

Ballin' is a Habit blogger Rob Dauster wrote the Big East Preview for the folks at Rush the Court. Rob, a fan of the conference, produced a solid piece that gives the reader a great capsule look at the how the conference shakes out. And his pick (Villanova to finish #1) works for me.
